Where did you stay?

Alcudia Garden Aparthotel

How did you get to the location/race?

Plane. The hotel is right by the start and finish areas.

Were you running for a cause?

No

Why did you decide to enter this race?

Challenging cycle course, swim was in Alcudia bay so was flat and calm if swimming is not your best disciple. The run is flat and three loops

How was your training? Did you have a coach?

Did you have a coach? Yes I have a coach and saw a nutritionist.

How was the race organisation beforehand?

Ironman events are very well organized

Did you have a specific race strategy, and if so, did you stick to it or have to adapt during the race?

Yes for race fueling which is importance in endurance events although as the run was so hot I had to adapt my salt and fluid intake

Were there any unexpected challenges you faced during the race?

No

What was the best bit?

The cycle with amazing views after an 800m climb and the downhill. The swim course was brilliant with buoys every 100m so sighting and knowing how far to go made it a lot easier mentally.

What was the worst bit?

Running as it was so hot

How were the crowds/supporters?

Yes lots of support on the run and swim start and finish area, cycle with the distance not so much but locals do come out in the villages etc.

What would you do differently next time?

Nothing

What advice would you give other runners doing this race?

Enjoy it after all the long hours swimming, cycling and running

Would you recommend this race to other runners?

Yes but not as a first half Ironman distance as the cycle is very tough with the climb

How did you celebrate completing your race?

With a cool lager ????

What's next?

Jersey triathlon and London half Marathon
